Match Reports | 27th & 28th May

BTH Brumbies V Avalon Pumas

Brumbies had a great game on Saturday. They had no subs but the Brumbies played hard and won.

Score was 2-1 with Marcus & Charli M players of the match. A special mention to Logan though as dude was on fire today as well.

WU10 BTH Sapphires V Collaroy Cromer Strikers Barracudas 17-0 to BTH

WU13-3 Emeralds

vs. Seaforth FC

Even though we had an early start for a Sunday it was well worth it with such great weather! The girls started off the first half dominant and on top, it was unfortunate we had two goals against the run of play. The girls never stopped trying in the second half, they worked a beautiful goal which was well put away by Ellen. The game ended 5-1 against the Emeralds, great to see the girls improving each week!

BTH Bear U10 (0) 2 – Wakehurst Storm 3 (0)

After last week’s dismal day of a rained out game the team were excited and raring to go. The field marked out from a farmer’s cabbage patch, few lines and sandpit on one side it was always going to be a challenging game, the Bears have been fortunate to play on some great surfaces to date. Game on, from the start we found it difficult to get over halfway and were pressured by some bigger more physical players. Goal mouth scramble, goal to Wakehurst. Grr… A quick counter attack, then a hefty punt up field from the keeper and a bit of luck, own goal Grrrow… 2 zip down. No fear, the Bears dusted off and came back strong, attack after attack but no goal. Then boom another hefty punt down field and a chase, goal mouth scramble. Growl… 3-0 down and halftime.

Second half, from the start the Bears were fired up, hungry to score and going all out for a win. The quality of football this team play is exciting, playing out from the back into the midfields, been creative all day. It was only a matter of time before a goal would come through a beautifully timed pass, slipping the ball behind the keeper for a walk in goal. Then it was all out attack, shot after shot, pass after pass and at times only having 1 defender to clean up the scrambled kicks from the Storm. The girls put on an impressive display when Sarah won a battle on the right to slip a well-timed pass into Georgia up front, no hesitations from Georgia as she put in a ‘Suarez’ touch to score.

As luck would have it, the Bears were denied several more chances and the sands of time ran out.

Liam Morony was awarded the player of the day, a valiant effort in goals in the 1st half, sprained finger and was instrumental in creating many chances for his teammates to score.

Bear Keeper!

U12/2

Vs Curl Curl Youth Club

First half was 0-2 to Curl Curl. It was a compelling first half and you couldn’t split the teams, but credit to Curl Curl who scored two goals (one of which was an own goal) from nothing. Our defence continues to work well, with Connor’s speed, and Zane, Dash and Luke’s tenacity to stick like glue to their attack. We had a couple of changes with Peter and Matty working the sidelines, and Benny, Ethan, Charlie and Max working the middle well. An unlucky offside almost got a goal and a close cross, we were unlucky not to score in the first half. Final score was 1-3. Second half we clawed back one goal from an individual effort from Matty, and another unlucky own goal. Player of the match went to an outstanding defence player, Luke. Well done team.
