U11 Division 1
BTH U11a 1 – Pittwater 5
Playing away against Pittwater and without 4 regular players was always going to be a challenge. With this challenge comes opportunity for players from other sides to join in the fun and get a taste of the football been played in U11 Division 1. It is great to see the spirit of football alive in the junior ranks and the players on loan performing well, special thanks to Will, Nathan (11’s) and Lachy (10’s) for helping out.
From the kick-off, Pittwater applied pressure and did not give BTH Blades a chance to settle, BTH felt this onslaught and resulted in been 3-0 down after 10 minutes. BTH fought back and once settled gave a good challenge, timely Pittwater defence and outstanding goalkeeping kept the score down for Pittwater. BTH were rewarded with a fantastic goal midway through the second half from some creative play in midfield to free up Kyle to beat the central defence with a great finish in the bottom corner. Two late goals saw Pittwater finish the game off on the scoresheet at 5-1. Full credit goes to the u11 boys and girl who against all odds put up a spirited game and never gave up, always believing in themselves and putting TEAM first.
The MVP for the game was Cory Brown, who played left back in the 1st half, stifled a number of attacks from Pittwater side and in the 2nd half moved into goals and put in a number of saves and stops keeping BTH in the game.
Although the Blades went down in the result, Pittwater coach heaped praise to the team on the fighting team spirit and general play the Blades demonstrated. We continue to develop as players, developing tactics and strategies, building on the TEAM spirit.
Onwards and upwards we go, that win in the 1st division is close.

U8 Redbacks
On Saturday, the U8 Redbacks played the Mosman Oracles at Dee Why. All of the Redbacks played well in the wet and very cold conditions, however were outplayed by a competitive Mosman team. Benjamin Arthurs was awarded the Player of the Match after a cold first half in goals, he did not stop running in the second half.

Men's O35/7 A's
The boys travelled to Cromer to play the undefeated Beacon Hill team. Through injuries we were a little short from the regular roster and despite pleas from the players, the manager steadfastly refused to bring in outsider help, if only he'd listen..
Beacon Hill started strongly but the boys kept the pressure on. After 10 minutes the ball was turned over in space and three spot-on balls and a swift right foot from Bruce saw us up one nil. A stunned Beacon Hill piled on the pressure and it was a magnificent 20 yard strike that levelled the scores. The remainder of the half was back and forth then a nice ball through to a flying striker had us down 2-1 into half time.
The second half started well with Beacon Hill being cut down I. The mid field repeatedly by Iain and the boys up front were causing concern, then two minutes of heartbreak. An attempted clearance from a centre back was cut-off by the keeper and passed back into the centre to, whoops, the wrong bloke.. Three, one.
A minute later and Graham was nutmegged. Four. Then Marksie attempting to clear the ball on the twenty yard line hit so well, Ronaldo would have been proud! Graham had no hope.. Five.
Well, beers were still enjoyed!

The U10 Rattlers played hard in the freezing, pouring rain on Saturday. Unfortunately they lost 5-0, but they never gave up.

Another win today for the mighty Meteors!! Score 4-1 Boys are having a great season & playing really well together. Man of the match today was Marcus Voz who was an awesome goalie 1st half & played a brilliant 2nd half.

Ladies Div 1
This week we had a very personal connection to our match – it was Sam Freeman’s last game of the season before she embarks on her epic adventure overseas! Now Sammy has been a committed and extremely talented member of our club and so it only seemed fitting that we send her on her wonderful way with a game to remember. With our team keeper away this week, we had two brave volunteers to fill in the position. Holy Crawford was keeper for the first half of the game and to describe her in one word, I would choose: “Powerful”! Her goal kicks passed the half way line with ease which allowed our girls to execute their attack with immediate strength and advantage over the Beacon Hill defence. From the whistle, the Raiders were hungry, they were rallying and we secured our first goal after consistent pressure via a beautiful run up the left side by Liv Green who then passed a lovely ball into Sam Freeman who beat the last defender and skilfully shot the ball right by their keeper! 1 – 0 to the Raiders!
Our defensive line was impervious to the Beacon Hill attack with our keeper only coming into contact with the ball maybe three times. Our team was working hard together and it was paying off. Laura Aspinall took the ball at her own feet and beat several defenders for pace (wouldn’t be the first time) as she ran up the left side toward goal and with an incredibly tough angle and distance to kick, Laura shot an absolute cracker into the top right hand corner of the goal! The crowd roared with shock, surprise and utter awe of the goal bringing our girls to a solid 2 – 0 lead into half time.
With a fearless face Bec Pashley then takes on the role of goal keeper for our team in the second half! Our girls continue fighting hard for our win (#rallyforSam) and keeping level minds in order to defend our score. After a beautiful one handed save by Bec Pashley, our back line: Shay, Becca, Nikki and Skye along with our rotating defensive mids noticed a hole in the middle of the field where we needed to win more possession and that is exactly what we did.
However, the next goal to be scored was by Beacon Hill in a very unlucky and messy high ball; a squabble of connections which unfortunately resulted in a Beacon Hill point. We began to play more defensive as a whole but this did not take from our attack! With some beautiful passing by Nikki Stephens, Tiani Schaefer and Laura Aspinall, our team continued to terrorise the opposition as Laura took another cracker shot that unfortunately hit the rugby bar rebounded back into the field of play where Nada Dayoub hit a nice volley into the goal. This goal was disallowed due to the rugby bar.
Soon after we strung several passes to get to our right winger Holly Crawford, she then fed through a perfect ball to Dani Foley who beat a defender before putting pressure on the keeper who had come out to meet the ball. There was a huge tackle challenge between our Dani and their keeper and it was Dani who came out victorious! This left her with an open goal and her team with another point! The final score was 3 -1 to the Raiders and it was well deserved as we consistently worked for each other! We were all very pleased with ourselves and stoked to give Sammy a proper Raider’s send off!
